We aren’t stuck with the brain that we think we have. We’re not stuck. It can be changed.
LaMonte Wilcox
Shame, fear, and pornography addiction all create patterns of thought and behavior to meet subconscious needs. But those patterns can get in the way of the life we want. LaMonte Wilcox is a neuro mental health coach who has studied about our brains and how we can interrupt and change those patterns. Creed and Crishelle talk with him about understanding that process better.
In this episode:
- Our brains run on a reward system, and it seeks to meet our needs.
- 95% of our decisions are made subconsciously, and 70% of those decisions don’t lead to things we truly want.
- Thinking thoughts about shame over and over builds a pattern in our brains, similar to the way an addiction looks.
LaMonte has combined the concepts of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and the latest discoveries in neuroscience to create an effective model called NAAP (Neuro Auto-Associative Programming). This model empowers people, in only a few visits, to take control of the functions and biochemical balance through deeper understanding of their own neurology. It plays off of the natural reward system and teaches them to have an awareness of what is going on and clarity about trauma that ultimately empowers them to break patterns and take control.
LaMonte has combined efforts with Dr. Kenneth Oliver DC, DACNB who specializes in Functional Neurology and Brain Trauma to effectively help people overcome severe mental struggles at The Neuro Clinic in Lehi. He is the founder of Fulfill Life Yourself, LLC. A mental health coaching organization.
LaMonte has been invited to lecture at local universities including Utah Valley University and BYU. He shares scientific research about how our current lifestyle and technology is affecting the functioning of the brain and why mental health is increasing exponentially.
He is one of the original co-founders of a non-profit organization called The Living Well Project. The Living Well Project (LWP) exists to “self-uncover” toxic emotions that young people in particular experience while interacting with social media, which can lead to anxiety, depression and even suicidal thoughts.
